Centre for eLearning Development - About CeLD
What CeLD Does
CeLD performs a range of activities within Information Services,
working towards its role as defined in the University's Learning,
Teaching & Quality Enhancement Strategy
2003-2005, developing online modes of course delivery to encourage
the use of C&IT (Communication and Information Technology) in the
curriculum. CeLD's activities include:
- eLearning Design
CeLD develops online learning courses using the University of Stirling's chosen
Managed Learning Environment (MLE), WebCT.
- Training
CeLD staff can provide training in a range of software products used to create
and support online learning. See the Training section
of this web site for more details.
- Documentation
CeLD produces a full range of supporting documentation in various formats
for both staff and students who are using WebCT either to develop or study
online courses.
- Development of Templates
CeLD has created a series of Templates upon which WebCT courses may be based.
These templates include key features to enhance the online learning experience,
including online Discussions and links to useful library resources. CeLD
has developed a separate WebCT Template for each Department.
- Awareness Raising
CeLD staff seek to raise awareness of the potential uses of C&IT
in the delivery of learning and teaching at the University.
- e-Moderating
Within WebCT there are online communication facilities. CeLD
staff can provide advice on how these may be best used within
an online
course.
- Online Assessment
If you are wishing to develop online assessments within WebCT,
CeLD staff can provide support for this.
- Ongoing support
CeLD staff currently support over 1000 WebCT modules
running at the University of Stirling, with all registered
student users able to access the system. Every student has a
WebCT account and CeLD help to support queries
relating
to
students
accessing WebCT along with the Information Centre in the Library.
- Course Evaluation
CeLD provides
course feedback facilities to incorporate into WebCT courses, allowing
designers to get feedback from their students and improve the
online learning experience for future students.
- CPD work with SURE
CeLD staff work with staff from Stirling University Research and
Enterprise (SURE) to develop online courses in the area of Continuing
Professional Development (CPD), generating revenue for the University.
