Connect your PC

CampusNet logoConnecting your PC or laptop to the university network
OFF CAMPUS

Please note that you will only need to use CampusNet from off campus if you want to access your university filestore (home folder). All other university services eg portal, webct, email, library resources, are web based so can be accessed from a standard web browser via your own ISP (Internet Service Provider). If you want to access your filestore this is the setup process. You must have a broadband connection in order to access the network via CampusNet - modem connections are too slow and unreliable for this function.

Configure your PC / laptop
if you have up to date antivirus protection on your PC: login to the university portal via www.stir.ac.uk and follow the link to 'CampusNet Installer' (on the Working/Studying at Stirling tab). You can download the CampusNet software from here.

if you do not have antivirus or your antivirus product is not up to date, you can either update it yourself before running our installation programme or you can install Symantec antivirus. There is a larger version of the CampusNet installer (for both XP and VISTA) available on the portal which include the Symantec software. More on this. See a movie of the installation process.

To connect to CampusNet after installation
You will have a new desktop shortcut called 'CampusNet Connect'. Double click this whenever you wish to access the university network.
Home folder
- connect to CampusNet then double click the desktop shortcut 'My University Home' to access your home folder. Staff can also map a network drive to any other network folders you may wish to access. (Start/Run/type network drive path eg \\dochart\bigtemp).
Printing via the student print system - connect to CampusNet, then open the document you want to print.  Select File/Print then select \\alvie\twosided to print to the student system.
