Scope and Content:
Personal material collected and kept by Anderson. Includes diaries (kept irregularly between 1942– 1992); photographs of family and friends and visits to various countries; memorabilia collected by Anderson during his childhood, schooldays, military service and adult life; awards and gifts. Anderson also kept material relating to his family and his mothers family (Sleigh and Gasson).

 

Personal memorabilia


There is little in this sub-collection relating to Anderson’s working career. The diaries do record Anderson’s accounts of working in film and theatre but they also contain much that is personal and private. All photographs of films and theatre productions are arranged with the other film and theatre material. A number of awards for his film, television and theatre work are present but neither his Oscar for Thursday’s Children or his Palm D’or for If…. are part of the collection.
